Choosing a monologue

Actors often get hung up choosing a monologue. But it's simple, just pick one you love. To bring it to life, you must first love it.

Also, it's important to choose a few contrasting monologues. Have at least four ready to go at all times, for example pick something:

- Serious and full of drama.
- Different like science fiction and fantasy.
- Light hearted or comedic.
- Classical like Shakespeare.

Once you decide, read it aloud to yourself. Don't feel pressure to act, just listen to the words fall out of you. How do they make you feel? What images come to mind? Maybe write down your reactions, then get on Soliliquio and share your finished monologue with fellow actors.
